Glistening glaciers are the show-stoppers in Glacier Bay National Park, though keep an eye out for spouting whales and meandering bears as you kayak or cruise through this icy park.
Crater Lake Trail accesses a high alpine lake that has been stocked with rainbow trout. The growing season is short at this elevation, so the fish are generally less than 12 inches. However, long-time residents of Cordova say there are some monsters lurking in the depths. The hike is strenuous and takes approximately 3 hours, but the views from the top are well worth the effort.
For more information call the Cordova Ranger District at (907) 424-7661. Please check the current sport fishing regulations at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game web page.
